DENTAL PROSTHESIS
Dental prostheses are devices used to replace missing teeth. There are two main types of dentures: total (dentures) or partial, which can be fixed or removable. Your dentist will help you choose the most appropriate type of denture, depending on the number of teeth to be replaced and the cost of treatment.
The prostheses are custom made in partnership between the dentist and the dental prosthesis technician, based on molds taken from the patient .
In the case of complete dentures , an acrylic base the color of the oral mucosa rests on your gums. The base of the upper prosthesis covers the entire palate (roof of the mouth), while the lower prosthesis is made in a "U" shape, in order to allow free space to accommodate your tongue.

Dentures
Fixed prostheses can rest on natural teeth or on implants. When the patient has a good root structure, the dentist can use these natural roots to make prostheses that will rest on the latter. As seen in the figure to the side, the teeth adjacent to the prosthetic space (space without teeth) are used as pillars to support the fixed part, which is cemented on them.
Fixed prostheses can also
to rest on artificial roots: implants. They are made of titanium, a material that the organism does not recognize as "invader", on the contrary, there is a complete "connection" between the organism and the material called osseointegration. From there, with the solid material in the bone structure, the dentist is able to install prostheses that recompose aesthetics and masticatory function.
